Anderson, Gordon L. Gordon L. Anderson is the Secretary General of the Professors World Peace Academy and the executive director of Paragon House Publishers. He is the editor of the International Journal on World Peace and has published numerous articles and books related to religion and society, including Morality and Religion in Liberal Democratic Societies (1992) and The Family in Global Transition (1997). He earned his doctorate in Philosophy of Religion from the Claremont Graduate School. [Back to Top] Antal, Chris Chris Antal is a student at Unification Theological Seminary and research associate for the International Coalition for Religious Freedom in Falls Church, VA. [Back to Top] Bennett, Clinton Clinton Bennett is Associate Professor of Ministry and Living Traditions at the Unification Theological Seminary. An ordained Baptist minister, he has served as a missionary in Bangladesh, as a university chaplain, as associate pastor of a multi-racial congregation, on the executive staff of the British Council of Churches, and in academic appointments at Westminster College, Oxford and Baylor University, Texas. He was a consultant to the World Council of Churches and is a member of the UPF Global Council and an Ambassador for Peace. He has assisted mosques with funding, planning and charity registration, building bridges in his chosen specialization, Christian-Muslim relations. Author of numerous articles and of six books, he received his PhD in 1990 from Birmingham University, UK. [Back to Top] Burton, David David Burton teaches chemistry and manages the chemistry labs at the University of Bridgeport. He holds a doctorate in chemistry from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. He and his wife graduated from the Unification Theological Seminary in 1990 and served as campus ministers at Yale University. [Back to Top] Callahan, Mark W. Mark W. Callahan holds an M.Div. from UTS (2004) and a B.A. in History from the University of Indiana. He currently works in the Education Department of the Family Federation. [Back to Top] de Groot, Adri Dr. Adri de Groot is a first year graduate of the Unification Theological Seminary (1977), after which he pursued graduate studies at Boston University, The Catholic University of America, and received his doctorate in musicology from Columbia Pacific University. His book, Number theory in Light of Unification Thought, was published by the Unification Thought Institute in 2005 and is also available on http://www.lulu.com/. This paper is revised from a paper presented at the 18th International Symposium on Unification Thought, Tokyo, November 30-December 3, 2006. [Back to Top] Guyenot, Laurent Laurent Guyénot graduated from the Unification Theological Seminary in 1990. He is presently director of Editions Exergue, a French publishing company. He is the author of three books, one of which, Le roi sans prophète (The King without Prophet) is about the relationship between Jesus and John the Baptist. [Back to Top] Hardaway, Leander W. Rev. Leander W. Hardaway is the founder and president of New Paradigm Ministries. He received his M.Div. from UTS in 2007 and holds a Juris Doctor Degree from the SUNY at Buffalo School of Law. [Back to Top] Hendricks, Tyler Dr. Tyler Hendricks is President of the Unification Theological Seminary. He served as president of the Unification Church of America from 1995 to 2000. His books include Family, Church, Community, Kingdom: Building a Witnessing Church for Working Families (2000). [Back to Top] Horsfall, Sara Sara Horsfall is an Assistant Professor of Sociology, Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth, Texas. She received her doctorate from Texas A&M University in December 1996. Her publications include Chaos, Complexity and Sociology: Myths, Models and Theories (1997), as well as papers on such topics as euthanasia, Marian apparitions, and gender division of labor. A major focus of her ongoing study is the spiritual experience. [Back to Top] Kaufmann, Frank Dr. Frank Kaufmann is the Executive Director of the Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace (IRFWP). He has worked in the area of religion and conflict resolution for 29 years in over 65 countries. Dr. Kaufmann is the author of The Foundations of Modern Church History, the editor of a number of works on religion and peace including Christianity in the Americas, Religion and the Future of Southern Africa and Religion and Peace in the Middle East, and the editor-in-chief of the academic journal Dialogue and Alliance. [Back to Top] Kawamura, Harumi Harumi Kawamura is pursuing a Master of Religious Education degree from the Unification Theological Seminary and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Harvard Divinity School. [Back to Top] Kim, Jin-choon Jin-choon Kim is Dean of the College of Theology at Sun Moon University, Korea, as well as an Assistant Professor there, teaching Divine Principle and Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Words. His education includes a Ph.D. in Physics from The University of Minnesota in 1993 and an M.R.E. from the Unification Theological Seminary in 1995. [Back to Top] Kittel, Robert S. Dr. Robert S. Kittel is Director of the IIFWP Office of Peace Education. His publications include: “Uganda’s Success Can Be Replicated: Cooperation Between Government and Faith-Based Organizations in the Fight Against AIDS” and “CLUE 2000,” the first character-based abstinence education curriculum for adolescents exclusively aligned with the eight-point Federal guidelines. He has been a visiting professor at the Unification Theological Seminary and received his doctorate in education from the University of Bridgeport, Conn. [Back to Top] Lewis, Richard Llewellyn Dr. Lewis has a B.Sc. in Biochemistry (Sussex University) and a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Genetics (Kensington University). He has worked in the field of asthma as a senior research scientist for the pharmaceutical industry. He currently lives in New York City and writes on science and religion themes. [Back to Top] Masuda, Yoshihiko Yoshihiko Masuda is Associate Professor in Unification Ethics and Sociology of Religion and Dean of the Graduate School of Theology at Sun Moon University, Korea. McLean is Assistant Professor Ministry and Director of Field Education and at the Unification Theological Seminary. He served as a Pastor and District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church for over 25 years, and held the post of Assistant General Secretary for Mission Education and Leadership Development of The General Board of Global Ministries in New York from 1997-2001. [Back to Top] Mickler, Michael L. Michael L. Mickler is Professor of Church History and Vice President of the Unification Theological Seminary. He is the author of The Unification Church in America: A Bibliography and Research Guide (1987), A History of the Unification Church in America, 1959-74 (1993), and 40 Years in America: An Intimate History of the Unification Movement, 1959-1999 (2000) as well as articles and reviews on the Unification Church and other movements. [Back to Top] Noda, Keisuke Dr. Keisuke Noda is an assistant professor of philosophy at the Unification Theological Seminary and Philosophy area editor for the Encyclopedia Project of the Universal Peace Federation. His publications include Shosetsu testsugakushi [A History of Philosophy as Narrative] (Niigata: Taiyo Shobo Publications, 2004). This essay is based upon a paper presented at the 17th International Symposium on Unification Thought, Tokyo, December 2005. [Back to Top] Nomura, Stephen K. Stephen K. Nomura graduated from Law Department of Waseda University in 1983 and the Unification Theological Seminary in 2000. He has researched and taught Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Words, the Principle and the Providence. Currently he is serving as a vice president for World CARP USA. [Back to Top] Otani, Akifumi Akifumi Otani is the Vice President of the Unification Thought Institute of Japan. In that capacity, he has presented numerous papers at international symposia on Unification Thought. He majored in Mass Communication and Journalism at Sunmoon University in Asan, Korea and worked as a public relations officer in the Korean military before coming to UTS. [Back to Top] Perottet, Claude Claude Perrottet is Secretary-General of the Research Institute for the Unification of World Thought in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He translated New Essentials of Unification Thought (2005) from Korean into English. Formerly he served as President of the Unification Church of Switzerland (1983-1995). [Back to Top] Price, Robert M. Dr. Robert M. Price was a visiting professor at UTS in 2005. He is Professor of Scriptural Studies at Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary and a Fellow of the Jesus Seminar. His books include The Da Vinci Fraud, The Widow Traditions in Luke-Acts, Deconstructing Jesus, and The Incredible Shrinking Son of Man. [Back to Top] Rohmann, Klaus Klaus Rohmann is a Professor at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Germany in Osnabrück and Vechta, where he has taught theology and philosophy since 1981. Born in 1939, his education includes a Doctorate in Theology (S.T.D.) from the Department of Catholic Theology of the University of Bonn. [Back to Top] Scheuch, Erwin Prof. Dr. Erwin Scheuch is the former President of the German Sociological Association; former President of the Association of Sociological Research Institutes; former President of the International Institute of Sociology; former Executive of the International Sociological Association; Founder of "Bund Freiheit der Wissenschaften" (Federation for Freedom of the Sciences); board member of the Social Affairs Unit (England); former Director of the Central Archive for Empirical Social Research in Cologne (Germany); President of the Cologne Association for Social Research; President of the German Association for Communications Research.[Back to Top] Shimmyo, Theodore T. Dr. Theodore T. Shimmyo is Associate Professor of Theology at the Unification Theological Seminary, where he served as President from 1994 – 2000. His recent publications include Explorations in Unificationism (1997) co-edited with David A. Carlson. Dr. Shimmyo is a member of the Karl Barth Society of North America. [Back to Top] Sontag, Frederick Frederick Sontag is Robert C. Denison Professor of Philosophy, Pomona College, Claremont, California. He is the author of over twenty major books on philosophy, religion, and existentialism. He has been a long-time observer of the Unification Church and wrote the classic study, Sun Myung Moon and the Unification Church (1977). [Back to Top] Swarts, Frederick Dr. Frederick Swarts is a biologist and an educator currently conducting research related to ecosystem maintenance in the Pantanal region of Brazil. He served until recently as the Administrative Director of the American Leadership Conference. Dr. Swarts did his doctoral studies in biology and education at Columbia University and at the Union Institute where he was awarded his Ph.D. in 1992. [Back to Top] Tanabe, Jennifer P. Dr. Jennifer Tanabe received a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Univerity of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1978. Since 1988 she has served on the faculty and in various administrative capacities at the Unification Theological Seminary, her current position being Special Assistant to the President. Her teaching and research interests include Unification Thought and Developmental Psychology. [Back to Top] Ward, Thomas J. Dr. Thomas J. Ward is Dean of the International College of the University of Bridgeport. He was editor of Development, Social Justice and Civil Society: An Introduction to the Political Economy of NGOs (Paragon, 2005) and authored March to Moscow—The Role of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon in the Collapse of Communism (Paragon, 2006). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the New World Encyclopedia (2008). Dr. Ward previously served as the Executive Director of the American Leadership Conference, an educational and research institute. [Back to Top] Wells, Jonathan Jonathan Wells has a Ph.D. in Theology from Yale University, and is a member of the American Academy of Religion. He has written extensively on Unification theology, and since 1981 has taught from time to time at the Unification Theological Seminary. [Back to Top] Wilson, Andrew Dr. Andrew Wilson is Academic Dean and Professor of Biblical Studies at the Unification Theological Seminary. His publications include World Scripture: A Comparative Anthology of Sacred Texts (1991), World Scripture and the Teachings of Sun Myung Moon (2007), and Cultivating Heart and Character: Educating for Life’s Most Essential Goals (2000). [Back to Top] Winings, Kathy Dr. Kathy Winings is Associate Professor Religious Education and Ministry, Dean of the New York Extension Center and Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at the Unification Theological Seminary. Michael Yakawich is Senior Pastor of the Montana Family Church, Billings, Montana, where he lives with his wife Yukiko and five children. He is a graduate of the Unification Theological Seminary (1987) and received an honorary doctorate from the Hope Alive Biblical Institute in 2003. He serves on several community Boards and organizations including the Governor's Board for Suicide, Billings Clergy Association, The South Side Neighborhood Taskforce, the Annual March against Drugs and Violence, the Black Heritage Association and the Annual 9-11 Community Celebration of Life.
